Contraceptive Methods
Guidance and contraceptive methods (pills, injection and more) to decide with clear information, in Spanish.
- Personalized guidance
- Birth control pills and injection
- Method start and follow-up
- Care in Spanish
Here you can talk about birth control without judgment and start a method the same day. We review your health, compare the available options and explain what to expect in the first months.
Which methods do you offer?
Birth control pills and the injection, started and followed up at the clinic. We also remove subdermal implants.
How is a method chosen?
Based on your health, your plans and your routine. We ask about blood clots, migraine with aura, high blood pressure, smoking and breastfeeding, because those rule out some options. The one you forget to take daily is not the best one for you, however popular it is.
Which side effects are normal at first?
Spotting between periods during the first two or three months, breast tenderness or mild mood changes. They usually settle. What is not normal: leg pain, chest pain, shortness of breath or a severe headache with vision changes.
Do I need an appointment or a prescription?
No. Walk in, no insurance needed. If it has been a while since your last checkup, we can also cover gynecological care and, if due, a Pap smear or a pregnancy test. We explain how often a Pap smear is due.
What if I miss a dose?
It depends on the method and how many hours have passed. Ask at the visit what to do in your specific case and keep the instructions: it is the most common question, and the one that causes the most unplanned pregnancies when it gets answered by the internet.
Why come to La Michoacana?

No appointment and no insurance needed. Our whole team speaks Spanish, parking is free and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.
How payment works
You pay per visit, with no insurance involved. We take cash, debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover) and phone payments. We do not take checks.
