Ultrasound & Sonography

Diagnostic and pregnancy ultrasounds with modern equipment and care in Spanish.

Ultrasound & Sonography
  • Abdominal and pelvic ultrasound
  • Pregnancy ultrasound
  • Modern equipment
  • Care in Spanish

Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, so it is safe even in pregnancy. It is done at the clinic, walk-in, and staff explain in Spanish what is being seen.

Which studies do you perform?

Abdominal (liver, gallbladder, kidneys, pancreas and spleen), pelvic, pregnancy scans for monitoring and follow-up, thyroid, and soft tissue when there is a lump or a swollen area to check.

How do I prepare?

For an abdominal scan, 6 to 8 hours without food, because food and gas block the view of the gallbladder. For pelvic and some pregnancy scans it is the opposite: arrive with a full bladder, drinking water an hour before and not using the restroom.

Does it hurt?

No. Cold gel is applied and the probe slides over the skin; if the area is inflamed there may be some discomfort with pressure. The study takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on what is being reviewed.

When do I get the result?

It is reviewed during the same visit and explained to you. If the finding calls for another study or a specialist, we guide the referral and tell you clearly what the next step is.

Can it tell how many weeks pregnant I am?

Yes. A pregnancy ultrasound helps estimate the weeks and confirm things are on track. We perform the study, and since full prenatal care is not provided at the clinic, we guide the referral to continue it.

Can it show gallstones or kidney stones?

That is one of its most common uses, along with checking liver, spleen, pancreas and bladder. If the study finds something that needs surgery or a specialist, we explain what was seen and what comes next.
