When fever and cough arrive, the first thing is knowing what it is. We run rapid influenza and COVID tests at the clinic, with results in minutes, and treatment is prescribed during the same visit.
Is it flu, COVID or a cold?
All three share symptoms and cannot be told apart by eye. Influenza usually starts abruptly, with high fever and body aches; a cold builds slowly and rarely brings high fever; COVID varies widely. The test settles it in minutes.
When should I get tested?
In the first days of symptoms, when the result is most reliable and antiviral treatment still helps. Also if you live with older adults, pregnant women or people with chronic conditions, because the result changes what you do at home.
What gets treated here?
Flu, bronchitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis and lingering cough. We check ears, throat and lungs and decide whether an antibiotic is needed, which does nothing for viral infections and is therefore not prescribed routinely.
When should I go to the emergency room?
Shortness of breath at rest, blue lips or nails, chest pain, confusion, fever that will not come down for days, or getting worse after improving. That does not wait for a clinic visit.
Do you provide a work or school note?
Yes. If you need proof of the visit or a rest recommendation, say so when you check in and it comes with the visit, without coming back another day for the paperwork. We can also note the dates you should stay home if the test is positive.
