Gynecology: Pap Smear, Ultrasound & Birth Control
Women's clinic: Pap smear, pelvic ultrasound, vaginal cultures and birth control, with privacy and in Spanish.

- Pap smear and gynecological checkup
- Vaginal cultures
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Birth control shot
- Treatment of vaginal infections
- Private care in Spanish
- A comfortable, safe and confidential space
We are a women's clinic on Spencer Hwy: gynecology visits are walk-in or, if you prefer, you call and book an appointment, always in Spanish and in private. We do Pap smears, vaginal cultures, pelvic ultrasound and treatment of the most common infections, with the lab in the same place, and on your first visit the initial consultation is free while any tests and treatment you need are paid separately.
How often is a Pap smear due?
Ages 21 to 29, every three years. Ages 30 to 65, every three years, or every five when combined with HPV testing. That schedule is for women without symptoms: unusual bleeding, pain or foul-smelling discharge gets checked when it happens.
What does the visit cover?
The reason for your visit and your symptoms, a Pap smear if due, a vaginal culture when there is discharge or discomfort, a pregnancy test if it applies, and guidance on birth control, all in Spanish.
Do you also do ultrasounds and give the birth control shot?
Yes. The pelvic ultrasound is done right here when there is lower belly pain, bleeding between periods or the uterus and ovaries need a look, and we explain in Spanish what shows on the screen (more under ultrasound). If you want to plan, you choose between the pill and the birth control shot once pregnancy has been ruled out; the options are under birth control.
Women's clinic: comfortable, safe and confidential
The gynecology visit, the Pap smear and the ultrasound are done in one place, in a comfortable, safe and confidential space, with the Hispanic team at Nueva Salud Michoacana:
- Free gynecology visit: the initial visit is free of charge
- Ultrasounds at the clinic
- Hormonal birth control: the birth control shot and pills
- Book your appointment or walk in
How do I prepare?
Avoid douching, vaginal creams and sex for 48 hours before a Pap smear, since they alter the sample. Note the date of your last period and, if you can, schedule outside those days.
What if I feel embarrassed?
That is normal, especially the first time. You can ask someone you trust to come in with you and ask for explanations in Spanish as many times as you need. Cervical cancer is one of the few that a simple test prevents, and almost all cases appear in women who had gone years without one.
Do you see pregnant patients?
We confirm the pregnancy, calculate the weeks and check the basics: blood pressure, weight and lab work.
What if my Pap smear is abnormal?
It does not mean cancer. Most abnormal results are mild changes that get monitored or infections that get treated. We explain what the result says, whether it should be repeated and when.
