A pregnancy test is done here in minutes, by urine or blood, and the result is explained privately along with the options for what comes next.
When should I take it?
The urine test is reliable from the first day of a missed period; before that it can read negative even with a pregnancy. The blood test detects lower levels and works a few days earlier, and it can also show whether a pregnancy is progressing when there is doubt.
What if it is positive?
The result is confirmed, the weeks are calculated and the basics are checked: blood pressure, weight and lab work. We explain prenatal care options.
What if it is negative but my period has not come?
A late period also comes from stress, weight changes, thyroid problems, polycystic ovary syndrome or birth control. If your period does not arrive within a week or two, it is worth repeating the test and reviewing those causes at a gynecological visit.
Is it private?
Yes. Your result is yours and it is explained in private, without judgment and in Spanish. You can come alone or with someone, without an appointment or insurance.
How long do results take?
The urine test gives a result in minutes, right here. The blood test is processed in the clinic lab and is usually ready the same day, with an explanation of what the number means.
What can I do while I decide?
If the result is positive and the next step is not clear yet, some things help from day one: starting folic acid, avoiding alcohol and tobacco, and reviewing your medications with us, since some are changed during pregnancy.
