Wound Suturing

Sutures (stitches) to close wounds safely, walk-ins welcome and in Spanish.

Wound Suturing
  • Wound closure with sutures
  • Cleaning and disinfection
  • Walk-ins welcome
  • After-care instructions

A cut that needs stitches closes better when it is sutured early. Here it is cleaned, closed with local anesthesia, and we explain how to care for it and when to come back for removal.

How many hours do I have?

The sooner the better: most clean cuts are sutured within the first few hours. After that, infection risk rises and sometimes it is better to close it another way or let it heal on its own. If the cut is on the face, go early for the cosmetic result.

Which wounds can be sutured?

Clean, straight cuts that will not close on their own. Other routes are needed for wounds with heavy dirt or material inside, bites (usually not sutured), wounds reaching bone or tendon, and spurting bleeding: that last one is an emergency room, not a clinic.

When do stitches come out?

It depends on the site: face, five to seven days; arms and hands, about ten; legs and back, ten to fourteen. We remove them here too, even if you were sutured somewhere else.

What should I watch at home?

Keep the wound clean and dry for the first 24 hours, change the dressing as instructed, and come back if you get spreading redness, pus, a bad smell or fever. We also check whether you are due for a tetanus booster, especially with dirty wounds.

Does getting stitches hurt?

Local anesthesia is given first: you feel the initial pinch, then pressure. What usually bothers people most is cleaning the wound, not the suturing, and it does not last long.

Why come to La Michoacana?

We are on Spencer Hwy, at 6500 Ste 180, just off Highway 225 and minutes from Deer Park, South Houston and La Porte. We open seven days a week: Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 9 PM and Sunday from 9 AM to 7 PM, so you can come after work or on the weekend without taking time off. No appointment and no insurance needed. Our whole team speaks Spanish, parking is free and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

How payment works

You pay per visit, with no insurance involved. We take cash, debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover) and phone payments. We do not take checks. Ask about the price of your service when you arrive or over the phone: we tell you before we start, so you know what you are paying.

Where our patients come from

Most live in Pasadena, in ZIP codes 77505, 77504, 77506 and 77503. We also see families from Deer Park, South Houston, La Porte, Pearland and the rest of the Houston area. If you work at the industrial plants along Highway 225 or the Ship Channel, we are on your way home.
