A wound that is cleaned properly and dressed the right way closes sooner and gets infected less often. At La Michoacana we do wound care walk-in, with the right supplies and follow-up until it closes.

Which wounds do you treat?

Work and household wounds, sutured cuts that need dressing changes, wounds after surgery, small burns, deep scrapes and sores that have gone weeks without closing, including foot wounds in people living with diabetes.

What does a wound care visit involve?

The old dressing comes off, the wound is cleaned, we check for dead tissue or signs of infection, apply the dressing that suits that wound and cover it. It takes a few minutes and, depending on the case, repeats every two or three days.

When should I come in right away?

When redness spreads around it, there is pus or a bad smell, fever appears, the area swells or pain increases instead of easing. Also if the wound came from rusty metal or a bite: we then check whether you are due for a tetanus booster.

What if I have diabetes?

Foot wounds deserve a prompt look, even when they seem small and do not hurt. Reduced sensation means they get noticed late. Here you can combine wound care with diabetes care and have your blood sugar checked at the same time.

Do you remove stitches placed elsewhere?

Yes, even if you were treated at an emergency room or another clinic. Bring the instructions if you have them; if not, we examine the wound and decide whether it is time to remove them or better to wait a few more days.

Why come to La Michoacana?

We are on Spencer Hwy, at 6500 Ste 180, just off Highway 225 and minutes from Deer Park, South Houston and La Porte. We open seven days a week: Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 9 PM and Sunday from 9 AM to 7 PM, so you can come after work or on the weekend without taking time off. No appointment and no insurance needed. Our whole team speaks Spanish, parking is free and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

How payment works

You pay per visit, with no insurance involved. We take cash, debit cards, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover) and phone payments. We do not take checks. Ask about the price of your service when you arrive or over the phone: we tell you before we start, so you know what you are paying.
